How do you feel about other exchanges approaching your members to join their group?

I've always felt that healthy competition is good. I can remember when I rarely heard anything positive about a trade exchange. Today, barter is increasingly popular, and I am proud to be a part of a worldwide industry.

So it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to when other exchanges approach my members because I always want what is best for clients. In the past, I was more concerned that unscrupulous groups would take advantage of my members because trade clubs operate independently so trade dollar values, buyer options, service, information, etc. differ from group to group. Today, even though that is still true and buyers should beware, there are far more credible exchanges than before.

At MerchanTrade, we are honest with our material and do not really perceive other trade groups as threats. We consider good exchanges, even those close to us, as allies in spreading the virtues of bartering. Healthy competition makes us all stronger for our members. After all, if clients are members of more than one club, they have the opportunity to compare and see what's truly in their best interest. That’s what we want!
